The Invergordon Model Flying Group is a group of individuals who enjoy their flying without the bureaucracy of club officialdom. We are affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (Reg No 2582) (and Scottish Aeromodelling Association) and the club is run in accordance with their rules, guidelines and safety codes.
Our main flying field is located ½ mile off the A9 at Lower Kincraig near Invergordon, Ross-shire. (grid ref: OS 21 697 704) where flying started in 1994 with the help and support from the landowner who improved the road access and provided electric fencing to protect the strip when sheep or cattle are in the fields. It is an excellent field, which is well maintained with virtually no obstructions. We also have use of a small Loch in the area for our float plane enthusiasts.
Flying at the field is permitted every day of the week though only electric flying on Sundays. The majority of flying takes place on a Saturday starting at 10.00. Flying at the Loch is Monday to Friday.
We can accommodate most types of aircraft,
including fixed wing, multi-engine, and powered gliders, but not I/C
helicopter or control-line, due to noise concerns. For insurance reasons, all members have to be in either the BMFA or SAA and we encourage all members to partake in either the BMFA or SAA Achievement Schemes. Potential new members should be aware that the club is now close to being full. As such membership applications will ONLY be considered following several visits to the field to allow us to get to know you, and you us.
